NCAA tourney Day 2 - more thoughts…

by Rich Carlson on March 22nd, 2008

Oh how I wish I was living back in Orlando - I could have driven one hour south down to Tampa and been a part of Upset Central. Here are some thoughts as Day 2 of the NCAA tournament draws to a close:

- For those of you who think that Siena’s win over Vanderbilt was a fluke, forget about it. Siena can flat out play. Vanderbilt is a very good team, and they were throttled by the Saints. People had better sit up and take notice of Siena in a hurry.

- It is going to take a very special team to beat North Carolinaa when the Tar Heels are firing on all cylinders.

- I like Louisville. A lot. Very intriguing team.

- Arkansas just took Indiana to the woodshed. So much for the Hoosiers 14-4 Big Ten record. Say goodbye to Mr. Gordon Hoosier fans…I hope you enjoyed watching him.

- Villanova and Clemson just played a great basketball game. Clemson had the game in hand in the first half, as they were up 36-18. Give Villanova credit for not caving in and fighting back.

With Nova’s victory, it marks the first time in NCAA tournament history that 4 lower seeds at one site advanced to the 2nd round. March Madness at its best.
