Crimson Tide PG Steele out for season
Life became a lot easier for point guards in the Southeastern Conference on Monday when the University of Alabama announced that starting point guard and 2007 preseason AP All-American Ron Steele would redshirt this season.
Steele, who averaged 8.6 points and 4.0 assists per game last year, underwent multiple surgical procedures on both knees during the offseason and has not recovered enough to participate in the 2007-2008 basketball season.
Alabama finished the 2006 campaign with a 20-12 record (7-9 in the SEC) and now faces the 2007 season without their floor general and team leader in Steele. It could be another tough year in the SEC for the Tide.
But don’t fret too much, Bama fans…you still have Nick Saban patrolling the sidelines.
